Nishant Rao is currently Assistant Secretary (acting) – Technology Security Policy in the Department of Home Affairs. Nishant previously led the development of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy which sets out the Government’s plan to uplift Australia’s cyber security to become a world leader in cyber security by 2030.

Nishant has also held roles across the Department of Home Affairs delivering outcomes of the 2020 Cyber Security Strategy, engaging with the National Intelligence Community and providing legal advice for migration and customs cases.
