A seasoned Information Security and Technology specialist with over 20 years’ experience, Sonia Arista joined Fortinet in May 2018 and is responsible for the go-to-market strategy, solutions and sales growth for the company’s healthcare business. Based in Boston, Sonia works closely with healthcare industry leaders to demonstrate the importance of a security fabric approach to enable scalable, protected, cost-effective access to high value patient data that addresses changing regulatory standards and industry identified threats.
Prior to Fortinet, Sonia was a Healthcare Strategy Principal at GuidePoint Security, serving as a subject matter expert to lead business development in healthcare. She has been contracted to serve as an interim Chief Information Security Officer for several healthcare-related entities like Wellforce, Nuance Communications and Verscend Technologies, looking for program validation, incident response support and board-level education. Sonia has also held CISO leadership positions for Tufts Medical Center, and the New England Quality Care Alliance where she was responsible for the development and management of their Information Security programs.
Sonia has been invited to speak at a number of healthcare information technology and cyber security events, and is active with many nationally recognized healthcare information technology security organizations like the College of Healthcare information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). She is also a foundation board member of the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS) and on the Executive Council for the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers.
Sonia earned a BBA in Management Information Systems and a BA in Latin American Studies from Southern Methodist University and has certifications in Certified Information Security Management (CISM) and as a HITRUST Alliance Certified CSF Practitioner (CCSFP). Sonia recently completed her Executive Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity at Brown University.
