Peter VanDorp is a Cyber Security Analyst and Network Operations Supervisor with the Wellington Catholic District School Board and Manager of the Western Region Cyber Hub for the Ministry of Education in Ontario. With over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, Peter is now responsible for all aspects of the Wellington Catholic District School Board’s security framework and infrastructure, including networking and cloud services. In 2017 he was tasked to be part of the Ontario Ministry of Education Broadband Modernization Project which was mandated to bring a minimum of 1Mbps to every student in the province. More recently, he was part of the Ontario Ministry of Education team that developed the Ontario Reference Architecture 3.0 framework for the province. As a result, he has helped to implement SD-WAN to the 82 school boards across the province and is currently helping to implement SASE solutions to the school boards. Currently, he has been working with the catholic school board to migrate the school board’s FortiClient Endpoint protection solution to FortiSASE, where they were the first organization in the world to purchase and fully deploy FortiSASE. Previous to his work in Education, he worked for a number of years in the media and telecommunications industries and, with a 2nd degree black belt he competed internationally for many years in Taekwondo.
