
Leong Boon is the current Head of IT Security at NUS Information Technology, where he oversees cybersecurity governance, strategy, operations, incident response, and user awareness initiatives throughout the University. With over two decades of expertise in cybersecurity and particular interest in security incident handling and response, he has led major investigations, including a significant APT attack on local universities in 2017.
As a passionate advocate of the subject, he also holds an adjunct teaching position as an Executive Education Fellow at NUS School of Computing, mentors cybersecurity startups through ICE71, and speaks at major security conferences such as RSA Conference.
In 2022, he co-developed and co-led the inaugural UNSingapore Cyber Fellowship Programme with Prof Yaacob Ibrahim, successfully guiding more than 80 cybersecurity leaders from over 60 member states. As an alumnus of NUS, Leong Boon holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He was honored with the CSO30 ASEAN Leadership Award in 2022, recognizing him as a top senior cybersecurity executive in the region.
